—I still remember the first time I have rooted myself on this piece of fertile land, many years ago. If my memory serves me right, it was during the second world war. Over time accepting the fact that the ordinary world I find myself standing tall in, especially my immediate surroundings, are deteriorating. I’ve been keeping a keen eye on things for many years now, maybe it is suppose to be like that, who knows?
At least the wind still blows in my face, and sometimes the moon and stars are watching over me on crystal clear nights. It doesn’t keep me satisfied, just optimistic and hopeful. On days when it is overcast and rainy I feel a bit lonely, but at least it gives me time to reminisce. When not deep in thought, I’ll try and sink my rustic roots deeper and deeper into the earth, searching for more life. This is in fact getting harder with each attempt. At least I can still share my life with you ... maybe not tomorrow.
Not so long ago a human stood in front of me, patiently planning different angles to capture my construction on film. 1986 was the last time I saw one, what a pinnacle moment it was for me, then and now. He eventually did his magic, keeping my hopes up. I’m guessing it is for a cookbook! I’ve always had a dream of flaunting myself on the front cover of a famous cookbook. Whatever it is, I hope and pray he will do something extraordinary with it, my time is precious.
