Red Square Kawasaki ZX10R Masters: woo-hoo!
I got the heading from the Blur song: Song 2 (1997). (Click here to Youtube it)
This is about what you can expect from the Extreme—motorsport—Festival on Saturday: LOUD, and very—woo-hoo!
After a very dry spell, for me that is, the Red Square Kawasaki ZX10R Masters are back in town, at Zwartkops Raceway on the 7th and 8th of August. With FREE entry to the public on the 7th.
I call on all Friday Slackers to attend this official—practice—day, for a pronounced foretaste of what you can expect on race day. The practice programme will run from 08h00 till 17h20.
Here is an excerpt of what avid motorsport fans can look forward to over the weekend: Red Square Kawasaki ZX10R Masters Cup, Thunderbikes, Silverton Bolt & Nut Brunch Run Challenge, and, of course, the National Production Cars Series.
For a blue note and R10 change, it is definitely worth the outing. Remember: students pay R60; kids under 12—FREE.
With 25 Red Square Masters on the starting grid, it will absolutely be a great day for motorsport:
Pieter De Vos #17, Graeme Van Breda #41, Kyle Robinson #18, Tony Klem #13, Stuart Russel #83, André Denoon #58, Johan Le Roux #44, Raymond Keel #33, Jaco Gous #43, Hennie Du Plessis #61, Rodney McLachlan #42, Sid Farinha #57, Hannes De Vos #15, Michael Smit 49, Abrie Marais #48, Hano Van Der Merwe 14, Henk Schuiling #69, Peter Clark #64, Mike McSkimming #71, Appanna Ganapathy #77, JB Schoeman #23, Ian Harwood 24, Stewie Christie #65, Craig Luck #90 and, Allen Maguire #11.
With four exciting race dates still to come (8 Aug, 24 Sep, 24 Oct, 7 Nov—Zwartkops, Zwartkops, Killarney, Zwartkops), the cat is not in the bag for Graeme Van Breda, yet; Pieter De Vos will assiduity target the Red Square Championship title, that you can be assured of.
On the combined points roster, the story so far (top six):
On the top rung, Graeme Van Breda, with 230 points; in close second, Pieter "the Terrier" De Vos, on 202; Kyle Robinson in third, 156. In forth, Tony Klem, 132. Klem can still ruffle Robinson’s feathers and assume third position on the roster, if he can muster enough confidence. In fifth, André Denoon and Stuart Russel, both on 89. In sixth place, Raymond Keel, with 86 points.
Other great news—woo-hoo!
Back from the infirmary are: Johan Le Roux #44, Peter Clark #64, and Allen Maguire #11—WELCOME BACK MASTERS!
With Johan back, the outlook for Raymond Keel, Jaco Gous and Stuart Russel, don’t look so good. Already seeing the sweat pearling on their foreheads. Le Roux currently teeters in 9th place on the combined points roster on 68. Either Sid Farinha (in 10th place) will drag him one down (which is not likely), or he (Johan) will stomp the said three to lower rungs, wriggling himself comfortably in sixth, before trophy day at the end of the year.
This is one vocation I frown upon: weather forecasters. But, I will try my hand in predicting the top six for both heats this coming Saturday:
Race One:
To take the first chequered flag of the day, Pieter De Vos #17; then, Graeme Van Breda #41, Kyle Robinson #18, fourth Tony Klem #13, Johan Le Roux #44, and in sixth, André Denoon #58.
Race two:
The order will stay approximately the same, except for Tony (Klem), throttling Kyle into a disheartened forth position. Let’s see how this pan out on race day.
Woo-hoo! Friday is just around the corner. You will definitely find me very early at the Aces Café, sipping on great coffee, munching on a crispy toasted bacon and egg sandwich; Saturday, I will most probably do the same, if I’m not taking my own car-boot-breakfast.
You are most welcome to join me at the Aces Café—let the THUNDER begin.
PS: Don’t forget to come and show your face at the Red Square Kawasaki ZX10R garage—you are most welcome, at any time. Come on in, and experience these superbikes up close, you will be amazed. —Godspeed! •
